But 2008 promises to amplify our follies and leave us scurrying to understand "why" horrible things are befalling us. Things like global warming and its resultant floods, droughts, and other minor inconveniences like destruction of our homes and way of life (note to Americans who experience such: see places like Africa for consolation) , dwindling resources and our wars for them, not to mention a new solar cycle that some NASA scientists believe will be the most violent since records of them began 24 cycles (of 11 years) ago.
Even more exciting is the "local" catastrophic news of a bankrupt U.S. economy in depression, with the housing bubble bursting, unemployment climbing, oil experts predicting '08 oil prices between $80 - $160/barrel. If you own gold, or gold stocks, congratulations! If you own other stocks, brace yourselves!
Meanwhile, Hillary wins a very surprising victory in the New Hampshire primary when all polls showed her losing to Obama by 12 points or more. What is it that lets us think the voting machines that determine our national elections aren't being used in places like New Hampshire and other state primaries to install a candidate less formidable to republicans so they can more easily steal the next election as they have done in 2000 and 2004. Maybe Obama just scares the shit outta 'em?
Meanwhile, Bush is rattling his saber over those provocative speedboats in the Strait of Hormuz. Whether real or not, only twelve months remain for Big Dick and Little Bush to trigger Armageddon.
Indeed, 2008 promises to be a really, really exciting year.

Yarr, Matey...there are lots of ways to pirate: be it by speedboat or the less obvious pirating of an election.
I used to worry about Armageddon. Now I believe that the demise of the human race would likely be the best scenario for Mother Earth. What's to fear? (Just hope I go with the first big bang.)
WOW!!! You are really tuned into the cosmic in that part of the world. Here I am footling around with things like optimism and you are plugged straight in to fundamental realities delivered from those bits of space rock which cannot penetrate our polluted atmosphere here.
I was really hoping the big dick and little bush would have dealt with each other, in the appropriate manner, before another twelve month.
So I'm not the only one who is suspicious about the polls being so "wrong"?
Gee, when was the last time the pollsters got it wrong? Oh yeah, it was after the CEO of Diebold let it slip that he was prepared to do whatever it took to get Gee Dubya Bush "elected".
So who will be selected as our next president? Anyone know?
border explorer: Amen! Those few words of yours spoke directly to my heart. (Well, I used to think I'd like to be in the 3rd or 4th wave of Arma. departees, but I'm now thinking a place closer to the front of the line might be preferable. ~grin)
Cart: I think it's the poliectomy I had over Christmas break. At first, what I thought were signs it didn't take, I now believe are just the reverse, i.e., those little "snip-snips" have actually made it all so much clearer now.
Nona: LHS Associates controls 81% of NH's voting machines. One need only Google them to see "plus ca change" (as might be heard in the Paris Hilton) regarding American "democracy."
Which taken with the fact who runs for president here is tightly controlled by special interests with an occasional person who still thinks anyone can join the race being filtered out by the media or outright cut out by their own parties.
So, "Oh whoopee!" I'm so excited for change next November; to vote for the "candidate of my choice" (as determined by subliminal powers beyond our control) and then have my vote tallied by special interests outside our own.
If it looks like a pig..........
See? The surgery's apparently successful!
agreed with border explorer - although i don't think we all will die - there are some tenacious souls who are getting prepared for this up and coming change in the world - by learning/remember how to grow their own foods - learning how to make their own fuel (bio-diesel) and harvesting water - getting off the grid and become sustainable along side with neighbors and friends
true -- cable will no longer be affordable or even exist - along with designer jeans and handbags
but people will - just not with the lifestyle we have enjoyed these 50 plus some years
This is a test....just a test...I am having problems getting emails and leaving comments...
