Backyard sunflower - taken this morning, 07-07-2009 (Click to enlarge)
QUOTE OF THE DAY: In a speech delivered by president Obama to graduates of the New Economic School in Moscow,This was a fortuitous image for a couple of reasons: First, the bumble bee was not part of the picture. He flew into it just before I pressed the shutter. Additionally, if you click to enlarge the image, you will see all the tiny natural hearts surrounding the center containing the developing sunflowers, something I hadn't noticed until "developing" the image later on the computer.
"You get to decide what comes next. You get to choose where change will take us. Because the future does not belong to those who gather armies on a field of battle or bury missiles in the ground - the future belongs to young people with the education and imagination to create."
Dada adds, "Too bad we can't have some of those educated young people with the imaginations to create a better world leading that world today."

Freakin' Fantastic Foto!
That photo really is amazing!
Too bad the best educated young people will go for the big bucks jobs in the military-industrial complex--the only sector of the economy that appears to be unaffected by our recent downturn.

so that's the secret to bee photos! I have tried over & over to photo bees on our sage & rosemary, but the little bastards always manage to zip out of range just when I snap the shutter. I will happily try your method next time!
looks like you will have many sunflower seeds. hope you plan to leave a few on the ground ala hansel & grettel to lead the educated youth toward a better world.
Wow! clicking to enlarge sure did make that puppy pop! Beautiful.
I'll just savor the beauty for a moment & skip the political.
