10 seconds at power level 4?

How many of you have put something in the microwave for a minute or so to heat and gone about some other business only to realize several minutes later the microwave is still running? And when you check it to see, it still has 7 minutes, 37 seconds to go! I do this occasionally, the result of inattentiveness when entering my heating time.

Sadly 28 year old China Arnold has just learned such carelessness will cause her to spend the rest of her life in prison without chance of parole.

The fact that Arnold admitted during her trial she had been drinking and arguing with her boyfriend about whether or not he was the father of her one year old daughter, Paris Talley, did little to save Arnold for the death of that daughter. You see, Paris was killed by over microwaving.

China claims she is innocent. Maybe she is. Knowing, as I suspect many of us do, how easy it is to enter a wrong time, maybe China Arnold, distracted by drinking and fighting with her boyfriend, misentered the time the time she intended to zap little Paris by punching in 20 minutes instead of 20 seconds?

Ugh! There's no way I can find any excuse for what she did. Whether she hit 20 seconds or 20 minutes is irrelevant. Drunk or not is irrelevant. The whole thing just makes me sick!

Prison is exactly where she should be. No excuses on this one. No matter what.

Hi chani. Welcome Pavel.
Today's blog as well as yesterday's which accused us of being "specks of dust floating through the Universe without purpose" are totally satire. Or are they?

While I don't condone, nor support, microwaving our young, with 6.5 billion of us on the planet and the threat of nuclear annihilation greater (rather than less) than ever at this, out supposed acme of evolution, one has to think observer's from outside this planetary system are amused, if not laughing hysterically. Or maybe they're just gravely concerned (and rightfully so).

While not amused, I AM concerned. Not for myself, my country, or the future of mankind so much as I'm concerned for the future of the planet as a place of survivability.

There may be countless hospitable earth-like environments
scattered throughout the cosmos,
Earth appears to be the richest place in this "neighborhood" for supporting life. And, while not convinced we are a viable species (the evidence against that seems to mouns daily), I am reluctant to see us destroy the chances of all others here to have the opportunity to have their "15 minutes of fame" as a species and -- who knows -- exceed far beyond our wildest dreams the "success" we've enjoyed during our brief reign as 'numero uno.'

Actually there have been instances of this actually happening. I worked with one very disturbed child as well who had nuked her mother's cat.

Specks and motes abound in this and parallel universes, whether they be concrete or a universe of the mind.
