OK, OK, I know I'm supposed to be on break enjoying the dog days of summer with my editor, Sam, until sometime after Labor Day. But it's early morn, Sam's still asleep, so I just felt compelled to sneak in a comment in reaction to the news in MSM how McCain and Obama are running neck and neck, to wit:
cognitive dissonance (Urban Survival): "That's where you're told one thing ('The sky is green') and your eyes or ears tell you something else ('The sky sure looks blue... I must be screwed up...maybe I need a pill...maybe counseling.')"
Or as Dada cites re McCain and his imminent victory:
"Everything's rosy. The wars are going well and things will get even better after I win the White House, we renew tax cuts for the rich and I start another war or two with the Russians, Syria, Venezuela or whomever" (it doesn't really matter).
Meanwhile, the vast majority of us are sick of wars, tired of subsidizing the rich with tax cuts and bailouts as true inflation runs closer to 11% (than the 6+% we're told) hitting us square in the guts while we're hemorrhaging jobs and homes without insurance for health care or social bailouts for "the little people" rabidly slipping into Third Worldedness."
Sadly, there are enough dumb-ass Americans with cognitive dissonance who think another four or eight years with a "fresh-faced" republican like McCain will be good for them, good for the nation, that they will make the election close enough for the media to easily convince us all McCain won it legitimately without disenfranchising hundreds of thousands of voters or using crooked voting machines to steal votes, as the majority of us scratch our heads, wondering, "How the fuck??!!" (again).
That's why I had to take a break; to quit blogging. (Oh wait, I just blogged, didn't I?)
Oh well, better go, Sam's waking up (excuse any mistakes -- no editor, you know).

And talk about dumb-ass voter, WTF about the "undecideds?" Could the dichotomy be much clearer between the two? How could anyone in their right mind say, "Gee, I just can't decide?"
