Who the hell writes the titles for these internet stories?

Last evening I got very excited for just a minute. Booting up the computer, the first thing I saw was the AP headline saying, "US Compares 9/11 Trials to Nuremberg.

Remembering the Nuremberg Trials consisted of the prosecution of the prominent members of the WWII military and political leadership of Nazi Germany, I took the headline to mean someone in the United States had finally gotten the juevos to stand and put Bush, Cheney, Powell, Rice, Rumsfeld, Bremmer, General Miller and a host of other administration war criminals on trial. For just a second, images of sugar plum fairies and hangman's nooses through my mind.

Obviously, as I read the article I learned, the headline was misleading. It was referring to six Guantanamo detainees accused of participating in the 9/11 tacks. I guess I'll have to wait awhile longer for those other trials.

Dada addendum: Later in the evening I experienced a true synchronicity. I watched Bush celebrating Black History month on TV. In his brief speech, he mentioned the word "noose" five times. While presenting a noose in the context as historical symbol of physical and psychological suffering by African Americans, I couldn't help wonder if it's prominence in the president's remarks wasn't the result of his same misinterpretation of that AP article's title that may have triggered horrendous images to Bush of the Nuremberg war crimes trials, of war criminals and of the twelve found guilty and hung...from a noose?

As Bush said, "some Americans do not understand why the sight of a noose causes such a visceral reaction among so many people." I'm sure Bush does.

The sight of Saddam Hussein hanging dead in a noose in that grainy cellphone video freeze
frame gave me a visceral reaction. I wonder if Bush had the humanity to experience the same. Or maybe he wouldn't understand my visceral reaction.

I saw that same story...and had the same reaction...
Happy Valentines Day....

( About lynching....on ENIGMA CAFE Blog I have the Billie Holiday song with the Strange Fruit Song and story...I doubt that Bush gets "IT"...I find it odd he makes a statement about IT when it is Black History Month.....but finds no way to recognize Great Black Figures in History...but he is a shameful snippet of a man....)

My own theory about the GITMO 6- they were all waterboarded- and for Bush- to him it is about elminating evidence......of his own crimes.

oh well..dada there is still Love in the World....

Border Explorer, it left me with the same feeling.

I wonder if bush is smart enough to have nightmares about nooses?

I think your comments are all dead-on right. And as Border Explorer points out -- as I said in the blog, "I'm sure Bush understands the reaction a noose might cause" -- I'm really sure he doesn't.

Just as Bush "cured" his alcoholism himself, we are all now victims of his efforts to self-analyze himself to mental health.

Sadly, however, in the process we all must watch as he casts out the evil within himself onto the world which he now sees as his destiny to eradicate from the face of the Earth.

And as he fights his own psycho and sociopathologies on the world stage, his failed attempt manifests in millions of deaths, millions more suffering and a world on the most dangerous brink of self-annihilation in decades.

And I must keep reminding myself whenever I hear Bush utter the term "national security" or "state secrets" I must always substitute instead "my ass" as in why Americans are not privy to info on the most secretive presidency in history...it's a question of Bush protecting "national security."

Thanks for reminding us enigma.

Not only does Shrub know about nooses he told us just yesterday that the US is about to be invaded with a horrible crime even more horrible than 9/11. Unless, of course, he gets permission to forgive the telecoms for spying on us and others. I suspect he will issue a general amnesty prior to leaving the WH for all who participated in this crime against humanity called Iraq thus avoiding any hint of a Nuremberg trial for those you have listed in your post and others who will surely be identified in coming years.

I hope you and Mrs Dada have a great Valentine's Day. When they say love is blind it might also mean that we have to shut out so many unpleasant things if only for a short while. So, turn off the brain and follow your heart today and for as many days as possible.
