Irony quote of the day

Israeli Deputy Defense Minister Matan Vilnai has threatened a “holocaust” in Gaza if rocket fire continues. “The more Qassam fire intensifies and the rockets reach a longer range, [the Palestinians] will bring upon themselves a bigger holocaust because we will use all our might to defend ourselves,” Vilnai said, momentarily forgetting why his family eventually migrated to Israel after escaping the Nazi death camp, Auschwitz, in southern Poland in 1945.

A momentary lapse of reason? Freudian slip o'da tongue? His "lynch" moment (impression of GWB's address to african-americans)? I dunno. Things go from bad to worse there. Where's that roadmap to peace?

d.k. I think the roadmap's been lost. That's ok, because I decided to Google it instead.

But sadly, there's apparently no Peace in Israel. C'mon, if Google can't find it, obviously there isn't any.

Sixty-four percent of Israeli's want it, but their leadership isn't responsive. Sound familiar?

Well said!

Only a bit off-topic: Last week I toured thru the new [unnamed Border City] Holocaust Museum. Near end of tour, asked guide: "Are you making any connections between elements of the Holocaust events [i.e. prejudice, discrimination, orchestrated poisoning of public attitudes--as depicted in the museum] and current U.S. immigration reality?" Response: "No, but sometimes we draw parallels between Hitler and the despotic ruler of Iran."

Hi Let's Talk. Thanks for dropping by and commenting!

Border Explorer: I don't think your comment the least bit off topic. In fact, I suspect the whole damn human experiment is doomed to failure precisely because we just don't get it. You would think a Holocaust museum staffer would get it, but no.

You would think my African American boss would surely get it, but he made jokes about Hispanics when they weren't around, so no.

And you would certainly think the leadership of Israel would get it but if they don't get it, what does that say for our future?

And so on and on it goes and where it stops nobody knows, but I have an idea. (And it's not pretty.)

Thanks for the work you do trying to bend our future towards a different direction as your question to that staffer so beautifully demonstrated.
