....of missed opportunities

July 2007, Dada misses the biggest sign of all.

Sometime in the early 80's I missed a "NO RIGHT ON RED" sign at an intersection. It cost me a few minutes time. Fortunately, the officer who pulled me over let me off with just a warning.

Later that same decade, I had another encounter with a sign. While I didn't miss it's bold command to STOP, I sorta just rolled past it slowly. The officer at that intersection wasn't as kind. This time it cost me some money.

But I've come to realize the biggest sign I ever missed may have been the one I encountered last summer. It occurred while attending a Los Angeles Angels vs. New Orleans Saints game. And before the game began there occurred a fly over by the crack U.S. Naval Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels.

It wasn't until this past week when glimpsing campaign ads by right wing presidential candidates I realized I may have missed the most important sign of my life, given me last July at that Angels - Saints game. I should have run for president!

Among sad things are megalomaniacs, very ill with delusions of grandeur. Sadder yet, are those who have conversations with God, with their resulting conspiracy wreaking death and destruction upon thousands, millions, of others. But perhaps the very saddest of things are those given real signs from God they fail to recognize.

God only knows what those missed signs may cost us all.

Angels - Saints game? I've heard of mixed metaphors before but never mixed sports. Angels are in the business of baseball while the Saints are a football team. No wonder you missed the sign! LOL!!!

Merry Christmas and Peace to you and your family now and in the future.

eprof: Argh! What are you saying, eprof? Are you accusing me of a false memory? It's not like I said my dad served on the same PT boat as president Kennedy during the war or something.

OK, OK, so I underestimated the awareness of my readership, perhaps. So good one. You got me there, I guess. (Maybe I was so sure this was a sign, I thought throwing in a few Saints and Angels would solidify my case?)

Anyway -- here's hoping you and yours have a great Christmas and New Year. Maybe '08 will be the onset of removing monkeys from our backs?

Let us hope.

Thanks to eprof, I realize you must've been at the heavenly pro bowl game in Hawaii. That's about as near to paradise as we've got. Though EK tells me the "pros" are still in the same sport. Oh well. To me, the appearance of Blue Angels means "cover your ears", followed by loud obnoxious swearing.

I wish you were running for prez, Dada! That way I'd have someone to vote FOR. But only if you didn't reveal that angels & saints were what convinced you to run. Oh sure, you might garner a few more votes that way, but what's that biblical saying, something about ... what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul? oh wait, I guess he gains the world ... nevermind.

ummm, I just noticed the cross above your head, the confluence of two jets crossing in the heavens ... now I feel strangely compelled to cast my vote immediately!

OK, it was me who missed the "Saints" and "Angels" angle. Me bad! Oh, your Dad didn't serve with JFK on the PT boat? I thought like Forest Gump we were all present at every major occasion in history. Romney said he "saw" his Dad march with MLK, Jr.

Yes, you should run for president and get elected on a platform of mixed metaphors -- all the rest are running on similar platforms.

We're off to Nana's house for tamales and lighting the luminarias and farolitos. See you online!

Bush himself once said "mexed missages" he was trying to say mixed messages... but he's so mixed up he garbled it- and remained at the helm.

So the point of this fractured fairy tale is that confusion and reinventing both the language, and facts are key, in obtaining leadership positions.

You are on the *right* track here, and throwing in a crucifix is straight out of the reich wing playbook. What better endorsement for a political candidate than God himself?
You are a quick study as a presidential potential.

No doubt Editor Sam is a shoe in for the VP position. The photo below looks like he is already scoping out undisclosed locations.

Just need a snappy slogan...

God wants Kibble in every dish

or how about "Vote for me & god help us all" ?
