WTF?

From "The News Bizarre" comes the following:

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — A judge who jailed 46 people who were in his courtroom when a cell phone call interrupted proceedings was removed from the bench Tuesday by a state commission.

Meanwhile George Bush and Dick Cheney continue unabated.

"Go figure." Or, "Huh?" Or, "Who cares?"

Sorry...this story is but a grain of sand on the beach of more grains than can be counted of insane news daily that assaults the senses of rational people who are listening. This one just happened to be the straw that broke the camel's back today.

It wasn't more news of Bushes Mid-East peace conference before he bombs the shit out of Iran. It wasn't the investigator in charge of investigating white house e-mails that contracted for deep cleaning of his computer (because of the incriminations it contained), or the Hastert and Lott resignations before the end of the year so they can beat new laws against going to work for K-Street lobbying firms (public service over private enrichment, yeh right), or the fact that you'd better think twice if your house catches fire or your spouse is having a heart attack and you've got fuckin' peace posters on the walls of your home because firemen and EMT's can turn you in, etc. etc. ad infinitum.

No, this is about the realization that we're living in Nazi Germany and if you read Naomi Wolf's book, it's ok, it's all deja vu, no big deal, because--as of yet--they haven't come for you or me and most Americans seemingly don't give a flippin' shit.

Just be patient. Be patient. They will.

Now you're scaring me. Like I wasn't already scared? I've been hearing about Naomi Wolf's book. Right now, we're reading "American Theocracy" by Kevin Phillips, about the nexus of ills that identifies bushmerika, the fundamentalist-armageddon mentality that has given us a debt-bloated, energy-crippled future on our knees. Hint: OIL is EVERYTHING! But the author almost lost me because his very first sentence was "The American people are not fools", and like you've indicated, all I see are a bunch of look-the-other-way'ers, as long as they can go ride their snowmobiles in the national parks!

Fear not, Dada. At the repub debates tonight, one questioner stood in front of a confederacy flag. Fred Thompson reaffirmed his right to hang whatever he wants on the walls of his home. So there you go. Hang rebel flags instead of peace posters in your home & forget whatever else that flag stands for.

i read this story on drudge, and my mind went down the same path as yours. and YES the nazi germany analogy has been apt for some time now.

d.k. - I've seen Kevin Phillips a couple of times on TV promoting his book (which sounds excellent). But I agree, that first sentence about Americans not being fools is hard to swallow. Well, maybe they're not. Maybe they're just a kettle of frogs in water heating towards a boil? (Oh, I'm nit-picking now, aren't I?)

Oh Christ, thanks for sharing that Thompson moment. (And I was wondering who was gonna pick up the banner for fallen likes of Thurmond and Lott.)

Did Thompson happen to mention if it'd be ok to burn that flag as a tribute to free speech?

Weezielou: Amen, but do you wonder if we'll ever reach a point where American outrage will boil over before all the frogs in the pot die?

The door is wide open for these remarks:

Was the judge overheard asking the question:
"Can you hear me now?"

Were the jailed 46 people able to use their cell phones to call for bail money?

Maybe they can devise a tiered system-- the more annoying your ring tone, the higher the penalty?

The judge was removed from the bench--
You 'd think they would have just ordered him to switch to decaf & prozac. Take it down a few notches.
