Warming up for the Big One.

In the early days of this blog, I used to spend much time composing tomes in rant against the insanity of the Bush government. But with increasing clarity it's obvious where a small handful of madmen with the all power are leading us.

No one seems capable of stopping this psychopathic path we're on. As a result, I find less and less pleasure in words, more and more pleasure in creating images. This one's dedicated to Cheney and his latest Iran threats and sanctions. I love the colors! How do you all look in atomic reds and yellows?

I caught a snippet of news on PBS about the Unprecidented sanctions against Iraq, picking & choosing specific Military & Banking Institutions. What troubled me the most was that there were broad accusations about Iran funding both Iraq & Afghanistan/ Taliban & anti American campaigns in Iraq.
Once again they throw accusations, and I don't hear anyone asking for proof or substantiation of the accusations. You think we would have learned a lesson from the Iraq/WMD fabrication as an excuse to go to war. Everyone accepted the claims as fact, and anyone who questioned it was considered unpatriotic. If we can barely keep enough troops in Iraq (using the back door draft & subjecting troops to 3+ tours of duty, calling in long ago retired personnel), the war of the willing will have been sucked dry. I suppose Bush could claim he kept his word-- there was no official draft in the Iraq war-- but he never said anything about not having a draft in an Iran war. I had envisioned GW in a political cartoon as a kid little Georgie, poking a stick in a hornet's nest, that is the Middle East, wondering what will happen. We have wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, and now opening the door to another war in Iran would be more like throwing dynamite in the hornet's nest. It is very likely other countries will feel compelled to band together with Iran, since the US is drunk with the dilusion of power. Turkey has already decided they can have war with Iraq as well. Things seem to be going to hell in a handbasket rather quickly.

Shades of Dr. Strangelove. Did the mad pilot go down with the bomb from your plane? Now, all hum the tune from the last scene of Dr. Strangelove as you leave Dada's place for wherever else you're going on the web today. Oh, I'll be trying out my half salute and half stranglehold!

Dada, those are my two very worst colors (atomic red & yellow)! Ah, but that was for my living body. They might look very fetching contrasting with a dead burnt piles of bones.

Good rant, Fran. It seems again we are following the same path, even using almost the exact same justifications, as "worked" in iraq. And now we even find ourselves again wanting to provide "regime change" to another country, something that is off-the-effing-table for us. How convenient that iran went from semi-moderate reformist Khatami to madman Ahmadinejad in response to US ratcheting up the War on Terror to include them & their next door Shia's. We just love poking that hornet's nest!

fran: Yes, won wood think there'd be all kinds of questions raised, outrage sprouting and those unpatriotic traitorous bastards coming out of the wouldwork (well, there ARE some of those, but that's just 'the people' and we all know wear they come in when totaling up what counts).

But what I'm left wondering at is the amazing tolerance of Russia and China. If either of those were here, in our neighborhood doing what we're doing over in theirs, well....

What about the aliens? Aren't they supposed to step in and prevent us from committing planetary suicide?

Ridiculous perhaps, but I don't see any humans in sufficient quantity prepared to stop these sociopathic kamakazes.

eprof: The pilot go down with his plane? Yes, I imagine he did as there's probably no place left to land.

Is that song you're referring to go something like, "We'll meet again" dubbed between the rolling credits and those beautiful nuclear explosions in the background?

I'll never forget that salute and the great line, "Gentlemen, please no fighting in the War Room!"

Deke: funny, weren't we just talking about our choices over on Fran's blog, i.e., burial or cremation?

Well, Bush and Cheney may make the decision for all of us. But look at the bright side. Maybe their denial re global warming is because they know what a waste it would be to invest money on solutions for that when it'll all be trumped by nuclear winter?

Dada: Yes, see YouTube,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxrWz9XVvls. "We'll meet again, don't where, don't know when, but I know that we'll again some sunny day!" All sing along now!

Hey eprof...I just heard on CNN Putin's comparing Bush missile defense recklessness to the Cuban missile crisis! (Of course they're implying he's insane!) OMG....with MSM like that , we may be singing "We'll meet again" much sooner than we know.

Hence, let us practice. Time may be short, so everyone--c'mon--sing along now!

Aren't they both MAD, like in Mutual Assured Destruction. The MSM here and in Russia and just about everywhere in the world is highly nationalistic, defensive, and jingoistic all at the same time. The media propel humanity to war and conflict every bit as much as the handful of national leaders, sometimes even more so. Check out the history of the Spanish American war and "yellow journalism" as the prime example of media pushing people to war. Today, FOX or Faux does the drumbeat for fear and pre-emptive war. The other media outlets aren't that far behind in beating the war drums.

I can understand, on the basis of US news services, why this should be a concern.
The reality though, surely, is that George W is isolated on the world stage now, and will not receive any support for an action against Iran.
Even his Australian toadies draw the line on that one.
I understand the psychopath mentality at play, but there is big money at stake as well - Cheney et al - which depends on a certain level of international agreement.

scary as hell. i hope to see some mangled bush and cheney masks this halloween. (besides our own)

eprof - point well taken re MSM. They come from a long tradition of hyping wars for their nations, but the unleashed nuclear genie is a relatively new weapon in the bag of the military's *tricks* which adds a whole new dimension of horror that is war (especially in the hands of the demented).

Cartledge: Thanks to Australia for their lack of support for the Bush - Cheney madness towards Iran. While nice to hear, I'm pretty sure it will do little to dissuade these bastards.
