"Lost Boys Calling"

(Dada note: Anyone who saw "The Legend of 1900" and
left as the credits began to scroll missed this great song.)

"LOST BOYS CALLING"
Roger Waters
© 1998 Sony Music Entertainment (Italy) S.p.A.

Come hold me now
I am not gone
I would not leave you here alone
In this dead calm beneath the waves
I can still hear those lost boys calling

You could not speak
You were afraid
To take the risk of being left again
And so you tipped your hat and waved and then
You turned back up the gangway of that steel tomb again

And in Mott street in July
When she hears those seabirds cry
She holds the child
The child in the man
The child that we leave behind

The spotlight fades
The boys disband
The final notes lie mute upon the sand
And in the silence of the grave
I can still hear those lost boys calling

We left them there
When they were young
The men were gone until the west was won
And now there's nothing left but time to kill
You never took us fishin' dad and now you never will

And in Mott street in July
When she hears the seabirds cry
She holds the child
The child in the man
The child that we leave behind

Thanks -- this is a wonderful song. "and now there's nothing left but time to kill" is so poignant.

I'm a sucker for Tim Roth movies, so I recall 1900. I just caught him playing Vincent Van Gogh the other night. I think my fave movie of his was "Gridloc'd" (him & Tupac Shakur, don't scoff).

You're right about watching to the very end because every once in awhile, there is something important shoved in there. Since we are usually watching a DVD or DVR, I ffwd past reams of credits to check (because I really don't care who brought the donuts).

Gridloc'd was filmed in Detroit!
& I think it was based on a true story. I got to see R.Waters The Pros & Cons of hitchhiking tour with E.Clapton, David Sanborn,& Michael Kamen... It's still 1 of the best concerts I've ever seen!

P-Mikeo, yeah Gridloc'd looked like Detroit! I think it was based on the director or producer's true story of him & a friend trying to kick the habit in one day. I was just amazed at their tenacity. I was also amazed at what good acting potential Tupac had.

Nina's back--again.

I thought I recognized his voice when the song started playing; silly me, I didn't even look at the caption. I've actually borrowed The Wall from a friend and am going to watch it this weekend, as I've never seen it before.

mouse: Long time no squeak. Good to "see" you again.

Believe it or not, I think of you every so often when I stumble across pics of your school (sent to me a year or two ago by "anonymous"). And I wonder, "Wonder," (see? I told you I wonder), "what/how old Nina's doing?"

Thanks for dropping by.

Nina! I bet you'll love The Wall. Amongst all the disturbing imagery, for some reason I was most affected by the eyebrow scene. Maybe it's because I recall doing the same thing in HS (well, not exactly the same, I am a fairly bloodless person). Aaah, but the music, the wonderful music will see you through.

Afterwards, read The Complete Analysis (it's rich with plot details & song analysis -- each one is mini-story itself) at:

I am so glad to see you back around! Now, why "mousebones"? oh, I'll go read your new blog & see if there's an answer; perhaps the answer is "why not".

"Why not?" covers it nicely, I think. I'm much better, now that I'm living with my mom AND I'm almost done with school. I'm in a musical and I'm going to buy a motorcycle in the spring. Life is divine.

It is good to be back in the political loop. I've been out of touch for so long. My wireless internet is difficult to deal with, but hopefully I can get that changed to something slightly more dependable. Been listening to the BBC (highly informative, and the lack of slant is refreshingly unAmerican).

Hope you're all well--I know i am.

az: Yes, I loved this movie too. Every few mos. I stumble across it and, if not careful, get rapt by it. But the end of it always results in the same reaction--tears.
