Molly Ivins Hospitalized

In media news, the columnist and best-selling author Molly Ivins has been hospitalized again in her ongoing battle with breast cancer. She was first diagnosed with cancer in 1999 and has successfully fought it off several times. Her sister said the cancer has back with a vengeance and has spread through her body.

Molly's regular column in the local newspaper had been missing for weeks. Eventually, we learned why. She was taking a leave of absence for treatment for her cancer which had recurred. After the beginning of the year, there appeared one column from Molly before she disappeared again. Sadly, we discovered why from the above story.

I'd like to just take this opportunity to send Molly Ivins our very best thoughts. Over the years, she has given us so much for which I am so very grateful.

This is just terrible news about Molly. Her voice has given me hope for so many years, I will continue to hope for a good outcome & will keep her & her family in my thoughts.

Dada, I don't know if it'll cheer you up any, but you might like my wishes for next year at Enigma's (in 3 parts). I decided El Paso should be annexed by New Mexico thus severing any geographical connection you may have suffered from during these bush years. Rest easy, my wishes do not often come true. ~~ D.K.

az -- I agree, Molly's one of mine too! It sure doesn't sound good. I remember when we heard of her cancer some years ago. Scared me to death. Knew she was being treated for it and then we didn't hear any more. In time I became comfortable Molly's indomitable spirit had overcome it, but it appears I assumed wrongly.

raed -- Thanks for putting extreme West Texas where it belongs. It's been a wish of mine forever. Maybe with two of us expressing it, it might tickle the attention of the gods? One can only hope.

I haven't read it yet over at E4E's, so I have it to look forward to when next I visit there.

( BTW Dk has alot of Molly qualities- she just doesn't know it- and yes, you have to go read her wishes for this year- they are amazing...)

Well, Love Our favorite writer has left us...the Cancer took it 's damn toll....I have been so sad, if you were here I would give you and Mrs Dada a Big hug and a shot of Something...damnit...

But there is a Lesson Here, we all need to Write More and Cuss More....it is up to Us....to the Be the Voices and the Light in these Evil Times...

and that means all of Us....
Namaste.

Just awful. Had to read it online, never heard anything on the TV news tonight. Maybe they covered it, but I was unwilling to wade through the BS to get to it. There is a big hole left down here on earth without Molly's magic observations. The State of Texas better be having a big state funeral for her is all I can say. With at least as much coverage as the Fackin-Ford Criss-Cross-Country Coffin-Moving one.

ps, enigma you are very kind, but if I had even one ounce as much well-phrased wit & salient humor as Molly had in her little fingertip, I would be a content woman. Now as far as the cussing goes, well, YOU are the official high contributor to the holy foul-jar, so no worries there, lassie. ~~ D.K.

Dk: many hugs to you...and you have more writing talent than you give yourself credit for....I feel bad I was grumbling about those two columns this weekend- I even said to a friend- gee I hope they let her have her laptop in the hospital...I guess that is the sign of a magnificent writer- they leave you hungry, greedy, and
craving more...I had already packed up her books...so I went trolling on the Internet...

I confess Dada...I came back three times tonight to see the beautiful photo...soothed the soul...

( hmm, about cussing skills- well....I am surely capable of calling Bush WHAT he really is...)

I am hoping tomorrow the stations do much more of a tribute to this wonderful writer....and Woman...
We were blessed to have her these past six hellish years....speaking out and up....
