Quote of the Day

“It is not fair or easy to look a soldier in the eye and tell him he must shoulder a rifle again and risk his life in a third tour in Iraq. But ask it we must. If, and I emphasize if, we have the will to win.” (Senator John McCain, who wants even more troops in Iraq than president Bush.)

Considering the unchanging rhetoric from the administration and their Republican "serfs", we should ask the question . . . DID 11-7 NOT HAPPEN ? EK

ek: Watching a TV clip of the vp this morning in which he said, "We don't make policy based on public opinion," I was reminded why it's probably more important to try to save tiger's in the wild and greyhounds from the racetracks.

I'm sure the lameducks will try their damnest to "quack" up the nation til they go on their final vacation and then in January we'll find out what kind of party unity the democrats have. It may be a ragtag "majority" in numbers only, leaving me to wonder what really happened on 11-7. I guess we'll learn soon enough, huh?

It's little wonder Unca Sneer has such disrespect for the voters' opinion ~~ it's not like that's what put him and Shrubbie in office in the first place.

Speaking of voting: Seems all those "close races" on the 7th might have been anything but. Evidence abounds that the Repugs were up to their usual dirty tricks, but simply miscaculated how many votes they would need to steal. (info at truthout.org)

Meanwhile, back at the studio...I wonder where McCain imagines all these extra troops are going to come from; out of his ass, perhaps? We're going to have a logistical nightmare getting our folks out that are already there as it is. And poor old John lost all my respect when he caved on torture. Would someone tell him to STFU?

Hmmm. Maybe it's time old John "Wayne" McCain slung a rifle over his own shoulder and headed over there to finish the job.

PT: At first, this sounds like an excellent idea. On second thought maybe not, because John Wayne McCain no longer shoots straight.

I suspect that was sarcasm, mel. But wait, maybe not, huh?

After all, McCain has one of the biggest ones around. There's probably whole divisions of troops hidden up in there.

Shit, you were serious, weren't you?

it's hard to get a laugh out of anything McCain says lately, but this commentary provided it. The image of McCain producing a whole division (or more!) and plopping them down in front the joint chiefs ... natural desert camouflage included, of course!

ahhh, but that would just inspire cheney to "produce" his own armor-plated ones (glavanized nails being a diet-staple for him), at halliburton-inflated prices, thereby clearing the field of all competition yet again. or not, there's an excess supply of large assholes in DC with big potential in this arena. ~~ D.K.
