Limericks

Meldonna over at Baja Canada, Seattle is holding "The Nipsey Russell Memorial Front Porch Limerick Contest!"

I'd encourage anyone with a talent for writing limericks and/or a sense of humor to drop by and contribute some much needed comic relief to counter the daily news.

Here's a sample of my latest contribution to the effort. (I'm not saying it's good, okay?)

There was a young girl name of 'Gert'

Who came back from Iraq mort-ly hurt

As he sank by her side

George Bush rued, then he cried

"Shoulda done what I did - DESERT!"

Limericks are not easy! the only flaw in yours is the assumption that GWB would even visit Gert, or any mortally wounded soldier. The few he sees are all recovering, sans a limb or two. nevertheless, an excellent observation of what our C-in-C did back when his patriotic duty interferred with his partying. D.K.

Hey, dada! Thanks for the plug...and sorry I haven't been by in a few days; Blogger's been driving me wild. I should know when they update to expect some glitches by now, but...

Did you try to post your latest entry over at Baja yet? I can put it there for you if you need...it's a peach! And right on the money.

Here are two Iraq-war-related limericks from by blog, doctorwork.blogspot.com:

On the Bush-Blair War

Mister Bush and his Blair are contrite
Of the war they are trying to fight
On the plan, it was bad
On the deaths, they’re so sad
Overlook those two things, we were right!

We Are Losing The War in Iraq

We are losing the war in Iraq.
We are losing the war in Iraq.
And for those wearing blinders,
I'll rephrase these reminders:
WE ARE LOSING THE WAR IN IRAQ!!!
