Save yourselves. Don't read this. Pray instead.

Actual photo from somewhere in Arizona I received as proof god endorses our right to wage holy war on the rest of humanity with the following caption:
"For those that prefer to think God is not watching over us..go ahead and delete this.
For the rest of us...pass this on."

Okay, I confess. Out of fear of invoking the wrath of god by deleting the above image, I decided to be cautious and, per the instructions that came with it, pass it on. Having received the above in an e-mail, having just finished James Hillman's "A Terrible Love of War", having just listened to "The Ring of Fire" on Air America this afternoon with hosts Bobby Kennedy, Jr. and Mike Pappantonio, I'm prepping myself to accept my body on a rotisserie spit as a piece of well done chicken. Well, burnt to a crisp, actually. For others of you who don't share radical militarist Christian love? Well maybe you, too, should think of yourselves as a piece of burnt meat. Or toast.

You see, more and more I'm beginning to think Americans know less and less about the leadership they "elected" to rule this country.

Many may have heard Bush admit back in 2000 that he thought it was god's intention he should lead the nation. I suppose that's the ultimate justification for the theft of the election and the American democratic process. It was ordained by god that Bush do so.

But a poll of Americans revealed, when asked to give the one characteristic they believe best describes their god, seven out of ten said, "Love." Well, I won't linger on that outrageous illusion, but as James Hillman is eager to point out in his "A Terrible Love of War", six of ten Americans also believe that "the events of Revelation are going to come true". In other words, Armageddon is just down the road for us all!

The scariest thing about that is when you permit "god's chosen" to take over the government--and trust me, for those of you who doubt it, they have taken over--then, you can expect these virtuous crusading Christian bastards to follow a reckless path towards Armageddon! Sadly, the real shame here is that they can't just go ahead and experience the total annihilation of everything they're so desperately seeking by themselves. But they're hell bent on taking the rest of us with 'em!

Stephenie Hendricks, author of "Divine Destruction", and guest on this afternoon's Air America's "Ring of Fire" examined "the unholy marriage of corporate polluters and far-right Christians". She reminded us of our own Secretary of State, former Chevron Oil Tanker Condoleezza Rice speaking in Georgia to evacuees of hurricane Katrina. To reassure them, she said, " "It's all right, don't you see, it's okay, this means that Jesus is on his way." Holyfreakinshit! This should be sufficient to revoke her Stanford PhD because obviously all those years of schooling were a waste of her time.

Of course, the danger here as Jame Hillman points out is, with a bunch of goddamnedmotherfuckinghellbentarmageddonassholes (ah, my words, not his) with their fingers on the nukular button, they may just decide to expedite god's work and push it.

This is the real danger to all Americans and the rest of the world. Far more than Islamic terrorists, the much graver threat to the planet are our own extremist Christian terrorists who feel, if they fuck it up, they'll just trigger the rapture that much sooner. And that's scary. Very scary indeed! What's that I smell burning?

uuuurrrgggghh!!! how very true and straight to the point and scary...

the christian right and, for that matter, the current-day fanatics of any religion based on a belief in a supreme being; who happens to look just like "us" and who happens to have a personal interest in the supposedly most highly-evolved species on this speck of dust in the universe, should be thinking long and hard about the fallacy of human interpretation of their god's "plan" for them...by their own logic, human interpretation of the mind of god is inherently flawed, because we, as a species, sure as hell are!!!

speaking of hell, even though my body might get burned to a crisp, I'm banking on purgatory, should the christians prove to be right after all...or failing that, going for another ride on the karmic wheel as a human, a plant or an animal in the past or in the future, depending on how the Holy Goof rolls the dice...the force of life is strong in the universe and I reckon we'll all find out soon enough about that...

Amen Sister Maineiac!

My wife had a program on the boob tube yesterday afternoon. It dealt with the evolution of the Xtian church. (Or should I say "mutation"?)

Anyway, apparently god pardons everyone sent to hell for their transgressions while in the flesh. But man, the church, amended god's compassion for all to one of a spiteful unforgiving sumbitch from which there is no chance of redemption.

After all, as it was according to god, where would be the incentive to behave on this Earthly plane? To be a beacon of morality ala Pat Robertson, Condi Rice, or George Bush without some eternal threat of fire and brimstone?.

Oh wait, that probably explains the neocons origin of our current foreign policy, huh?

This whole thing is soooooooOOOOOOooooooo disturbing...I am still scraping vomit of my keyboard....

Please forgive. (Can you tell I just finished watching 2 1/2 hours of Lonesome Dove?) Thought it was just a two hour show and I finds out it's 8!

Well, I never saw that show originally and so now it turns out I'm 6.5 hrs. behind everybody (at least).

Thanks again for setting me straight e4e and my apologies Maineiac.

hahaha, you're such a handsome fella, dada, it's easy to see why you'd assume no one but the ladies would flock around your blog...

no offense taken, call me whatever you want, just don't call me "late for dinner"!

I see religion has raised its bloody head here at Dada's. Without pissing off those who feel otherwise, I must confess to being happily agnostic. The bible is a good source of myths & legends ala Joseph Campbell IMO. I think maineiac was going toward what I feel about man creating god, the pinnacle of our intelligence, a product of the creative but bored mind of man. So much potential for good, so much actual evil, all products of the same man-god creation (us).

As for these christo-fascists in charge of our govt today ... well, I've always been tolerant of other people's faith (or lack thereof), but THEY are just plain crazy. It is absolutely insane to have people in charge who believe so ardently in the end-times scenario & passionately long for its actualization & now have put themselves in a position where they can actually bring about such a nightmare.

All I know is if there is an afterlife & they are there, send me into the eternal black void .... ok, I'm still here, not struck down by lightning yet, so I guess I'll finish that blasphemous thought .... If there is an afterlife & my dogs & cats are NOT there, send me wherever THEY are. Maybe some planet where man is NOT the top species and we all can live in peace. D.K.

I seriously doubt that there are any supernatural entities. No Easter Bunny. No Santa Claus. No Tooth Fairy. No God (whether you call the Abrahamic God JHVH, Allah, or God-Jesus-Holy-Spirit-they're-three-but-they're-one).

But if there are supernatural entities as described by the Abrahamic religions, and if one of those supernatural entities is whispering in Dubya's ear, then it's not the one who lives in the penthouse but the one who lives in the basement.

Anonymous said...

Absolutely, Brian DF ... add "compasionate conservative" to your list of mythological entities& it's perfect!

!!! Dada, I just finally noticed there is a CROSS in your flag picture !!! OMG, is that what is in store for us, right there on our f-f-f-flag? (i'm stunned & sputtering now)

I'm DVRing academy awards due to excessive commercials, but hoping for another michael moore moment when I run it later tonight. D.K.

D.K. You put it most succinctly. If heaven does NOT include the animals we've known and loved and were loved by in return, then I opt out.

Send me to the dogs, the cats, and hampsters, red tailed sharks, the parakeets and canaries and all the others who amplified our moments here by sharing them with us and teaching us about unconditional love. (Ah, that would be the dogs especially. ~grin)

Brian: I would tend to agree...

"if one of those supernatural entities is whispering in Dubya's ear, then it's not the one who lives in the penthouse but the one who lives in the basement"...

are you taling about a "cosmic penthouse" and the "cosmic basement". Just curious, cause if you are, they sound a lot those places some Xtians contemplate every Sunday. The former so many are trying to buy tickets to, the latter in which so many already have box seats reserved. (They just don't know it yet, right?)

dada said...

D.K. Boy, I wish I'd DVR'ed the Acad. Awds Ceremony. Oh wait, we don't have that capability.

Did you get the Michael Moore moment you were wishing for? If so, I think I missed it.

Oh, and Maineiac, thanks for being so forgiving. Like I said, I just don't know how I miss such very important details sometimes.

Dada, no m. moore moment yet. I've only watched half of it so far. Lots of fastfwding thru BS. J. Stewart seems disappointingly deferential. This DVR-thing is great, it's part of our Dish pkg. I hate commercials, so it allows me to record say Countdown & then start watching 15-min later. I keep FFDing thru commercials & by the time his 1-hr show is over, I'm up to real time viewing without having to suffer thru the ads. Big improvement over VCR.

Can you access enigma's watergatesummer blog today? I've tried a few different ways & can't get through. Probably my server. D.K.

dada said...

D.K. No, I can't access e4e's. But your server's probably ok, hence, it's probably enigma scraping the bottom of her "foul jar" barrel.

some_maineiac said...

I hate commercials with a passion, D.K. and I'm plenty pissed because I bought a DIRECTV satellite for the express purpose of NOT getting commercials and I get 'em on most channels...now I have to buy some other gadget that lets me skip over 'em???...not to mention CENSORED movies...and for all this I pay a monthly fee??? and I must pay more for premuium channels without censorship and only fewer commercials??? sheesh...

also had problems accessing enigma's site..."access forbidden" and occasional problems with comments on this site..."blogger problem and an engineer has been notified"

speaking of unconditional love and dogs, dada, any news on "pony"??? i've not seen any updates, so I'm assuming the best and that the medicine is working?

I am sorry you guys are having trouble getting to Watergate- it is 5pm and I googled it and it came up fine...maybe try that and see if it works for you...and let me know if it is still being uncooperative....( dada and you thought it was my Foul jar- you are too funny...)

( google: Watergate Summer...and you should get there okay- and it boost my google hits- I was at 87,000 but today I see I am at 84,000)

Maineiac: Wow! Thanks for the post. My wife and I often talk about more and more, everything is becoming "subscripted"....or available for a monthly fee. Satellite radio, cell phones, GPS, TIVO, Credit card protection, online DVD rental, Blue tooths, Greenpeaces, er, well.

Even charitable organizations which once gladly accepted a one time $10-20 donation (whoa...showing my age there OR WHAT?), want a $10-20 PER MONTH donation commitment. But I'm just touching the tip of the iceberg here.

There are so many I can't even think of at the moment. It's conceivable--the way things are going--we may eventually all have to "subscribe" just to live. Fall behind in your payments, they'll just come over to your crib and "cancel" you.

It's a great point to bring up. Probably worthy of a blog someday.

As for Pony, I really appreciate you asking. I think I'll blog an update. Can't say as we've seen much improvement, but we did revisit the vet today w/our regular doctor. More on that soon.

e4e: Yep, it appears you're connecting well now. After I commented to D.K. I couldn't and made the nasty, unwarranted remark about the foul jar (after you've been sooo nice lately), I was able to connect.

As for Clint Eastwood. I think you really shoulda shot him a copy of your manuscript. No need to feel humble. If he didn't like it, you'd probably never heard anymore about it. BUT...if you piqued him, you may have had an audience. (And, no, there was no hidden innuendo in "piqued", okay?)

Of course, that would have been our loss because you most likely wouldn't now be talking to any of we "peons", we'd have never known you, and that be OUR huge loss!

enigma4ever said...

Did I tell the Clint story here? I left it on someone's blog...and you know I have kicked myself for a year that I didn't brave it and sent the story to him...( can you believe I was such a chicken? ) So here's the deal- I am rewriting "certain" Bait Chapters right now, and when they are done- before my birthday....I am going to be brave and send it to him- the synopsis of Silent Fallout...promise....

And I would still hang out with you guys...here in Blogatopia......after all we all are peons together...now when Russ calls needing help with that new government I might be kinda busy....hehe...

some_maineiac said...

enigma, you PASSED UP an opportunity to discuss your manuscript with Clint Eastwood???

(see, your hand did tremble at the royal majesty, just kidding)

tell the story, again, please, or give me a hint where it is so I can narrow down a search for it!!!

maineiac, look at March 2nd "Bush Resigns" comments toward the end where we were rambling about Clint Eastwood ... and I had the same thought! Even if all he said was "not my style", still ... enigma is FAR too humble. D.K.

enigma4ever said...

Okay about the Clint issue....He is a grand Fellow- he kind of is King of the Carmel area- so yes I was very much intimidated....I have a chapter in the book about a person that even remind me of Clint- real guy- old Fisherman that helped me unravel the Mysteries of my Mess- and he was a Huge Help ( also truth be told I know NOTHING about Fish- I am a vergetarian- so I needed lessons Quickly- esp. after I saw my first Fish Kill..."Fishman" as we called him was also a Biologist and for our little non-profit we also called him OBI..yes , he was very wise in kind of a gruff, need a cigarette way, Make My Day Clint Way....So I showed a writer/editor the chapter about him, the first response was "We have to take this to Clint". But for them he is a neighbor.... a friend... But yes I was just too chicken...but yes the more I think on it.....( I told you guys I am shy- foulmouthed and shy- truly an enigma...)

some_maineiac said...

huh!

shy, perhaps, in person only...thank this blogging aspect of the internet for the ability to display your true self...

enigma4ever said...

okay- cut me some slack- how many of you would take your writings to CLINT? THE CLINT ? come on and be honest ? and remember it has to be YOUR story and your words ? .....
hmm feeling a bit shy now aren't you ?

( and yes I am still kicking myself...)

dada said...

Okay E4e. I apologize. I'd have probably done the same thing you did, in your shoes.

So don't let us make you feel too badly. After all, we've all passed a lot of water since then.
