If Cancer is a Metaphor for Mankind.......

..why is man trying his damnedest to eradicate his metaphor?" ~ Dada

I mentioned that one evening at dinner with our friends, The Conservatives, and was immediately challenged. "Who says cancer is a metaphor for mankind?" the daughter demanded.

"Why, I just did!" I responded. (I confess, I was feeling particularly testy that night.)

But why are we trying so diligently to eliminate this disease that feeds off its host and, left unchecked, multiplies exponentially until it kills it? I'm sure part of the difficulty we have even considering this is we're extremely busy slopping at the trough. When it comes to sucking the life bloods from planet Earth, mankind is no better than the cancers he tries so desperately to eradicate.

Maybe that's it? We kill cancer, because cancer kills us. We remind one another of each other. So I suppose it all makes sense. Two miserable maladies! I suspect eventually, it ends badly for both of us.

Whoa! I apologize. Why the depressing analogy this morning? I had my three cups of coffee. Wait......Oh shit--I used the damned decaf!
