My letter yesterday (8/10) to local radio airing Michael Reagan via its Clear Channel syndicate of stations.
Dear Sir:
I'm offended by recent promos for the Michael Reagan show in which he proudly proclaims his homophobia. That kind of invective only promotes hate. Bodies have been found, victims of people who take such abusive discourse far too seriously.
I've also heard Clear Channel disclaimers separating them from the opinions that are presented on their programming.
I'm just curious as to whether you would care to comment on Reagan's homophobia. Is this something you endorse? Oppose? Or are are you just 'not responsible' for the opinions expressed on these programs?
The program manager's reply:
Sorry if you are offended by the Michael Reagan promo currently airing. I listened to it and it is unclear upon listening what his stance is, except it is a snippet out of context. I have taken it out. It is unclear to me, and I listened to it a couple of times. I do not think it best represents the show or the station.
Thank You for bringing it to my attention. As vigilant as myself and staff are there are thousands of pieces of audio to listen to and this was one that got away from us…
