QUOTE OF THE DAY: So? So?? So I lived for a short time on a dying planet....It's not like it's the end of the world!! ~ Dada
Pastors for Peace Cuba Caravan update: Today, July 21, is the day the caravan of 130 volunteers, along with 100 tons of aid, will make their 20th annual challenge to the U.S.'s 50 year blockade of one of the most dangerous nations on Earth -- Cuba! Dada sends them all much light as they attempt to peacefully cross over the U.S. border into Mexico.
Speaking of light: Tomorrow, being Dada's birthday, I have ordered up a total eclipse of the sun in that part of the world that gives us so much damn trouble -- Asia. I have decided blotting out the sun for up to 6+ minutes over parts of that continent will serve as metaphor for the pall they cast, not just upon themselves, but the entire planet. If only they would yield to the demands of U.S. empire, the world could live in total enlightenment (well, save for that pesky Latin America and Africa, of course).
Meanwhile, praise God you are not rich: Referring to the headline in yesterday's local paper (with similar variations in papers nationwide): "Health care overhaul may make it 'bad time' to be rich."
Why do I suspect there are millions of poor and getting poorer former middle class Americans who would gladly change places with those poor unfortunate rich bastards?
The good irony of American high culture (or when bad is so good, you are not privy to it): ... Congratulations to the voyeuristic show Big Brother 11 for hitting an all time low when censors had to edit out remarks by residents that were just too offensive to meet "CBS network standards."
Hitting the cutting room floor was a derogatory term for Mexicans, sexually insulting language and gay slurs, all of which I'm sure pleased CBS and boosted the shows ratings, proving -- just as observations of rats have shown, when confined in overcrowded conditions similar to the Big Brother house -- people are capable of extreme censurable, anti-social behaviors (more commonly known as human nature).

Happy B-Day, Mr Da!
For your birthday, I would wish you could be happier about the human species. Failing that, I would wish you the fortune of becoming one of the "poor unfortunate rich bastards"!
Third choice, a sweating cold india pale ale while you watch that asian eclipse ...
Your birthday!
Well, it beats the alternative, my friend.
I'd recommend you have your cake & eat it too- while it still exists....
but I'm guessing DK's suggestion of a fine cold India Pale Ale is probably more to your liking.
Who knows-- maybe you can have it all???
In any case.... Happy B Day!
here ya go....

Thank you both for the BD wishes. Fran, how did you know what my favorite BD song was? TY.
And DK, you know, I really do love people -- so long as I don't think too far outside my "box" and as far as today, it will be most pleasant to include a couple IPA's from your 3rd choice above which, actually, is not a bad birthday at all.
And while it's taken me 18 mos or so to just begin to accept ("appreciate" may take a little longer) Facebook, it'd be my birthday wish that someday Fran, DK, and other bloggers might show up there. (Like eProf, Border Explorer, AZ Goddess, XandTrek, a ball of light, etc.) That explains the new FB badge posted on Dada's ... as a reminder (ahem)
Thanks again!
Happy Birthday Dada!
May your light continue to brightly shine...
except for when you are sending punishment for the wicked, pall-casting Asia-based peoples. How dare they not yield!
as for it being a bad time to be rich... iam pretty sure for those who are convinced they will remain untouched by the going out of business sale this country is having with taxpayer assets and futures, their turn is coming and with a vengeance unseen since plagues & pestilence were in vogue, or maybe because they were in vogue...
the only questions that remain: Will BigBrother (the shadow entity's only jokingly titled TV pablum) be back next season. Will his corporate handlers and their spiritually nuanced (bereft is a nuance) owners look to their ratings and get the hint? Will we have to burn down the mission with them inside? see my programming guide/treatment regimen/autopsy report for further superfluous details...
Tune in, turn on, drop acid on a bankster...
i was going regift Marilyn singing Happy Birthday to you and have you yell Mr Daaaaa daa daaaa at 0:27 or 1:15 but i couldn't get her rewrapped in time... oh wait...
IPA's for the table barkeep... and keep em coming...
abol: Well, thank you for the nice thoughts. My day was made even better than anticipated with your vivid imagery left here this day. (I found myself musing at images of a torched mission consuming itself and its captives inside. And then there was the smile I washed away with an IPA. (er, a couple actually.)
A most pleasant day as I also imagined MM singing out my blogsite address to the tune of the birthday song that goes like this:
da-da-da-da-2-u! (.blogspot.com/)
Thanks!
