A sad day for America?

NEW DELHI (DP) — Carina Carroll from Lawrence, Kansas was one of the first visitors from the U.S. to see a baby born last month with two faces in a small village in northern India. When asked Monday her impression after viewing the child, Carroll rued, "What a shame she was born here in India. She would have made a great American politician!"

I don't know what to say. Both this one and the other girl in the news recently, also born in India, with a lot of extra limbs are being worshipped as incarnations of goddesses. Better treatment than they would receive in western society, I guess. Me, I keep thinking of Bhopal and other toxic chemicals getting into their DNA, so I worry. In this particular baby's case, since each face can function (which is not usually the case with similar animal mutations, usually one side is in a comalike state), I wonder how her brain will function. I don't know about a future in politics, though.

D.K. I wonder, too (how her brain will function). In this country that's not a requisite for political office.

I'm torn by this photo, i.e., if not a good bhopal poisonous chemicals result, it looks like a good photoshop job.

But if this is, indeed, a real baby girl (sadly), with rice and food shortages riots in parts of the world, let's hope she's not the next step in the evolutionary process as it would double the mouths we need to feed in a world at the point of diminishing returns.

i know you are about as old as me - and i'm sure you remember when they started putting crap into our drinking water and we got mutations galore in water wildlife - like two headed frogs and such..

i just can't help but think that that was the cause of this

that's what i thought when i saw this picture...
