A catholic tale....

(NOTE: As much as I'd love to take credit for the following, I can't. It was forwarded to me by one of our occasional commenters here on the blog. Thanks to'Border Explorer' for sending the following and giving me a much needed laugh in an otherwise humorless world. )

As I walked down the busy footpath, knowing I was late for an important meeting, my eye fell upon one of those unfortunate, growing number of homeless vagabonds that are found in every city across the nation these days as a result of Bush administration policies.

Wearing what can only be described as rags, carrying every worldly possession in two plastic bags, my heart was touched by this person's condition.

Some people turned to stare. Others quickly looked away as if the sight would somehow contaminate them.

Recalling some long ago priest who made an admonition to care for the sick, feed the hungry and clothe the naked, I was moved by some powerful inner urge to reach out to this unfortunate person.

Yes, where some people saw only rags, I saw a hidden beauty. A small voice inside my head called out, "Reach out, reach out!"

So I did......and I won't be at mass this week!

Now there's a story with some traction!
Thanks for the good laugh.

I always suspected catholicism had dramatic pitfalls. I'm not sure what those priests teach, but quick avoidance moves don't seem to be on the agenda.
Anyway, you should have asked me first and I would have warned you about my cousin...
