Return of the Jedi knight

Anyone else get tired of seeing Bush waving? If so, it's probably been a rough week for you. It has for Dada. I'm so glad Bush is back home. Maybe we'll get a couple days respite from these kinds of photo ops.

I noticed as his Latin America trip wore on, his wavings became more enthusiastic. Like he was seeing someone in a crowd he recognized, someone he was really glad to see. It manifested as increased animation in his waves. And I wondered if in light of the unfolding US Attorney's firing scandals, he wasn't trying desperately to look like there's someone out there who's still really excited to see him.

Certainly I thought I detected some irritation during yesterday's press conference photo op with Mexico's President Calderon. Bush noted aloud how an audacious reporter had taken that opportunity to ask him about his attorney general Alberto Gonzales and those pesky firings while he was trying to set world focus on America's compassion for our Latin American brethren and reaffirming how the US values democracy, transparency in government and the rule of law - just as Mexico does.

But I wonder during his travels - when Bush waves as he walks across the White House lawn or some airport tarmac - if there's anyone really there anymore? Or, if maybe it's just a nervous tic he has around aircraft?

Whichever, I'm so glad he's back.

i'm surprised that you think he actually really and truly 'thinks' about anything except for whats for dinner? smile

i guess bottom line for me is -- the less i see of him -- the better!

It's so funny you should post on this! EK & I have been gagging for sometime about W's little flippity-flippy handwaves. But we NEVER thought that maybe he's waving to no one! You're right, the cameras don't pan around to show us this big audience of holy worshippers who are receiving his benediction. For all we know, he's taken to waving to the tree trunks (like that other King George, the mad one who thought a lone tree in the countryside was the King of France & made his coach driver stop so he could talk to him about kingly stuff). ~~ D.K.

I'm just so damn sick of Bush/Cheney, period.

I can't wait for the day when I no longer see him on TV or pictures of him in the news.
