"We must heed the results of the November elections and the wishes of the American people." ~ Majority Leader Harry Reid after Republicans blocked a full-fledged Senate debate over Iraq Monday on the Democratic majority's nonbinding resolution on escalating U.S. troops in Iraq.
Apparently minority republicans are still setting the agenda for the democratically controlled senate. While admirable, perhaps democrats could learn something from those republicans who don't control the senate on how democrats might control the senate during those times they actually do!
(NOTE TO DEMOCRATS: Americans didn't vote in November for NONBINDING resolutions denouncing Bush's wars. Americans voted to end Bush's fucking wars!)

We voted for Change and did not vote for a bunch of mealy mouthed pussies to sit and twiddle their thumbs while more money was wasted and more lives lost....
I'm not sure ol' Harry is up for this fight. Why isn't he reminding attn-deficit americans about the so-called nuclear option the repubs used as a sledgehammer when they were the majority? Why isn't he stalling every bill they sponsor in committee? Hey I hear there's a drafty congressional basement all set up for some repub committee meetings, where they can talk until their mikes go dead & lights go out & yell "point of order" until their vocal chords freeze up. In other words, why are Dems playing nice-nice as if Nov 7th never happened? And WHO came up with this non-binding shit anyway? OK, I know it was supposed to open the door for real debate & action. That door was certainly slammed shut faster than a jehovah witness could slip his watchtower bklt through, proving once again that as long as bush is in charge, humanity loses. ~~ D.K.
D.K. ~ point of order. Bush is in charge only because we let him be in charge.
We the people are in fuckin' charge. Isn't that what H. Zinn reminded us over the weekend on C-Span, Enigma?
Or, maybe we Americans just don't have the balls for it anymore.
Maybe America's up for the taking by any insolent "It'd be a lot easier if I was the dictator" punkass that comes along with a small group of thugs and radical extremist Christian army to back him?
Yeh, maybe you're right D.K.
Bush is in charge.
Dada, I just figure if humanity is losing (and it seems to be), Bush must be in charge! On an optimistic day, I agree with Zinn theoretically, but in practice, I see too many checks on the people's balances in this republic. I remember it was the people who brought down the old USSR by simply realizing after all those decades & deaths, they DID have the power. But then, I look into Putin's eyes & see the absolute absence of anything human & realize they are one step from crazyland over there now. And here we are over here, living in bizzarro world, so I gotta wonder where all this people power leads to. And when/where does it start to go so wrong. ~~ D.K.
