Anyone with loved ones in the US military? How many of our soldiers are going to die, get burned or very messed up until the defense department deploys a system made by Raytheon designed to protect them against rocket propelled grenades? Answer: We'll know in five years. That's how long it's gonna take Raytheon with its $70 million contract to develop and deploy such a system. But such a system is already available.
This was a story on Keith Olbermann's "Countdown" tonight. Our own Pentagon, after successful tests against RPGs by the Israeli "Trophy" system, was about to purchase some of these systems for American troops but they seem to have been told to back off.
Please note: RPGs have claimed the lives of 170 U.S. soldiers so far in Iraq and Afghanistan. Meanwhile, for the next five years more U.S. troops will die from RPGs needlessly.
Wake up America. Troops are being jeopardized while Rumsfeld waits 5 more years for Raytheon. Isn't it good to know when it comes down to the bottom line, corporate America (in this case Raytheon's ass) will always take precedence over those of our loved ones?
Maybe Rumsfeld would like to explain to us one more time about fascism? Oh, maybe he can clarify what he seems to be saying our loved ones can "go do to yourselves" for the next five years while we wait for a defense contractor to build a system comparable to Israel's, available now.
