This is a hint of the beauty of the Utah landscape. This particular shot is of a "Van Eerden Trucking" truck with an "Xtra" truck in the background. Regrettably, it's the best of the photos I took yesterday.

Sightseeing and making tracks for home aren't compatible and, unfortuantely, we were engaged in the latter yesterday. We didn't get as far as intended due to an Idaho rock which dinged the windshield, but its repair was promptly attended to by the nice folks of Utah.

I realize there are some incredibly beautiful landscapes to be had in Utah, but this is what we must content ourselves with this trip. Hopefully, it doesn't disappoint too much because, as we've come to learn, trucks are a growing part of the landscape. That's why I just had to steal a shot of this beautiful Van Eerden Trucking one.

not sure which message to comment on as it seems i am seeing double today on your blog - grin

i love Utah - i hate their religion though...it has done more harm to women than well, than any other form of christianity...IMHO

thanks for the pics...

seeing double or even triple, AZ? Does AZ allow those horrendous triple loads like here in UT? Pretty scary when you get sandwiched in between a few of those hwy monsters.

Nice red rock background scenery, dada. There's an old saying around here that once you get some of that red dirt in your shoes, it never quite leaves you, stays in your mind & will bring you back someday (probably a chamber of commerce tourist ploy). D.K.

"My Goodness" ... dada, I hope you saw rumdum on TV today taking a beating from hillary (otherwise my quote will make no sense). I hope someone burns his effigy at the ranch with a banner ... something like "goodness had nothing to do with it". maybe dress his effigy in something mae westish, with W.C. Gonzalez-Fields sticking his cigar somewhere painful. D.K.

Ah, Utah...when we drove thru on our way moving from Austin to Seattle, we had been in the serious mountains for about two days at that point, and I commented to my partner in crime "you know, the mountains are beautiful, but I'm starting to feel like they are going to eat me." We were right around the tiny town of Echo, if I remember correctly. What an amazing trip.

Happy trails!

dk: Oh my....your Rummy imagery is rich. I'm sure you've nothing to lose by saying that as you long ago made the "NO FLY" list.

az: I confess, I gained a new appreciation for Utah this trip. I really liked much of what I saw and, as my neighbor pointed out, "You can have nine wives". Sorry, I reacted the same way you just did reading that.

Mel: The picture accompanying this particular blog entry was taken in Echo Canyon. I wonder if it's near that of which you speak?

I remember taking that mountainous road through Utah one time. That's why I opted for something new by staying on the Interstate and going through Wyoming.

But once into Colorado and south of Denver we were struck how GREEN everything is, all the way home to El Paso. My god, New Mexico never looked so lush.

But just wait til I blog it and show you WHY everything's so blooming green.
