Taos bound!

Rio Grande gorge, Taos, New Mexico

Well, how exciting! Yesterday we made reservations for Taos at the end of the month. I'd hope to go a bit sooner, but in the words of a local Taoseno who maintains a residence there (Don Rumsfeld), "You don't always go to Taos with the reservations you want, sometimes you have to go to Taos with the reservations you have." Wise words. Besides, by going a little later, we'll be able to savor the thought of it longer.

And now we're hearing talk of Cindy Sheehan being in the Santa Fe/Taos area the first weekend of August. Oh gee, darn, we may have to go back in August!

dada, as your beautiful trip winds down, after all the delightful soul restoration & high country enchantment your spirit can contain, I hope you'll consider leaving a small malordorous memento on Rumsfeld's Taos estate gate in tribute to all the shite he has foisted upon the world. On second thought, the coyotes, jackels & vultures have probably already taken care of that & now have their retinal-imprints in some NSA file for doing so.

"or sometimes you don't go with the reservations you don't have"!!
The end of the month will be here before you know it. D.K.

celticfire: As a native webfoot, I really appreciate visits back to the old stomping grounds. And the more radical wings of Portland, Eugene, and progressive Ashland are nice.

When the revolution comes, we shall fight shoulder to shoulder with our brothers and sisters of northern NM and perhaps, just maybe, we'll join up with coastal commandos from Oregon somewhere in Utah where we shall celebrate over campfires warming cups of Starbucks and lizard tail teas!

Oh, it will be glorious.

DK: For years now, we've been going to Taos. In between trips, we read of marches out to Rummy's (the most recent a month or two ago where they went out there, arrested him, took him to his trial in the plaza...the verdict and punisment of which were closely guarded secrets, leaving those of us unprivileged enuff to not be there, pondering just what the hell they did with the poor bastard--but I enjoy pondering this, conjuring up images, etc.)

But this trip, we are definitely going to ask a friend to show us just where the hell this all took place.

You know, they've been trying for a couple years to drive him out of town. Wouldn't it be something if we could all go in together and buy Don Rumsfeld's hacienda! Maybe we could sell it on e-bay to some neocon grovelling rummy worshipper and turn a quick profit.
