Flags are meant to signify unity and patriotism, but what they really do is divide the world into teams. Our flags mean things; they are symbolic. Each flag was chosen for each country with care and consideration and should be used to stand for a people, not divide a world.
About three months before school ended, I began to refuse to say the pledge of allegience. I do not know the meaning of what my classmates reapeat daily, and will not be brainwashed into believing something that I don't understand. When I get around to finding out what it all means, I may begin to say it again. That is, of course, if it is not all utter bullshit.
Nina! How nice you could drop by--long time, no see.
Thanks for sharing your wisdom re flags. I agree. They just get a lot of people killed, more often than not for nothing. And I'd be willing to bet that you'll probably never pledge your allegiance to the flag again because, as you suspect, I SUSPECT--it's utter BS.
But I hope you're having a great summer, and it's always nice to catch your erudite comments here.
