Autoerratica

"Autoerratica", ca. 1992, 32" X 44" oil on canvas

Today's been a nice day, but I haven't had time to blog. So I've decided to share the last painting I ever exhibited publicly over a decade ago. While I normally preferred to do portraits, for me this was a step outside of my 'comfort zone'. I needed to come up with something quick and this is what emerged on the canvas. I think I submitted it before the paint was totally dry.

It's my way of honoring the age of oil as it manifested in the 20th Century through these wonderful automobiles that contributed so much to our mobility, liberation and sexual freedom. Submitted to the art gallery with the title Autoerratica, I was amused when attending the opening reception to see it tagged Autoerotica, which was equally enticing I suppose.

Gorgeous! and I suppose the sensual red curves & sinewy shadows justified the gallery name change. a wonderfully talented exhibition for the end of the oil age. Thanks for a great blog sharing -- though your intimation of private exhibits (vs public) is quite intriquing, I must say, especially if this is what you consider "something quick"! D.K.

Geez, Dada.

I hope I'm not completely missing something and you really did paint that. I didn't know you painted. It's lovely.

I suppose i don't really know anything about you anyway, so why am I suprised?

Sometimes I miss painting when I think about it. I'm always hoping to one day (sooner than later) get back to it.

Thank you both for the kind comments. Yes, Nina, I really did paint it and, yes, we know little about each other, but I guess slowly we learn.

Similarly, I know little of you other than you live in Utah, sans deadbolts.
