And now a word from Mr. Ken Lay on the steps outside the courthouse where he had just been convicted.
I firmly believe I’m innocent of the charges against me, as I have said from day one. I still firmly believe that as of this day. But despite what happened today, I am still a very blessed man. I have, on my left, this beautiful lady that's my wife. I have a very warm and loving and Christian family that supports me, a lot of friends, including some out there in the audience right now. And most of all, we believe that God, in fact, is in control, and indeed He does work all things for good for those who love the Lord. And we love our Lord, and ultimately all of these things will work for good.
Boy, that's rich! Here's a bastard who's destroyed thousands of lives and extorted billions of Californian consumer's dollars by phony manipulation of energy prices and what's the first thing he does after his conviction? Jumps in bed with his god. I would dearly love to see these two mob bosses do hard time for a long, long time. But I'm not jumpin' up and down til their bar doors have been slammed shut and locked down.

Don't you just love Kenny Boy's faith-based innocence!
He BELIEVES he's innocent.
Most people would KNOW whether they're guilty or not.
Most people would KNOW whether they're guilty or not.
-- Most people, yes. -- But not your garden-variety narcissistic sociopath...
Hope they lock him up and throw away the key.

It's obvious that these bastards have no sense of what they really are. How else could they lean on their God so heavily, knowing how incredibly vindictive He is capable of being?
This morning I went in search of a particular poem by Stephen Dunn. Something about "Life's a Bitch and Then You Die." But I didn't find it. Instead I found another poem by Dunn, "Before the Sky Darkens"...in it, it had these few lines:
"More and more you learn to live
with the unacceptable.
You sense the ever-hidden God
retreating even farther,
terrified or embarrassed."
Yeh, well, Nona senses it; Dena senses it; Dada senses it. But Kenny Boy doesn't. He's obviously senseless. (Is that the polite way of saying "narcissitic sociopath"?)
A friend of mine said that on GWBs last day he will pardon Lay, the truth of it made me ill.
Pat: Yes, I'd heard the very same thing. I don't remember where I heard it, but after Democracy Now! coverd this post-trial sentencing and reminding how corporate America's gotten even more rotten since Enron, Lay and his guys being sacrificing for the Bush dismantling of America to continue unabated..and mention of a pardon for these assholes, I was literally very, very depressed the rest of the day. (Which was worst than usual. I'm normally just very depressed at all this shit.)
Oh yeh, and DN! even noted this whole trial could be overturned, thrown out, citing the example of Arthur Anderson. Oh hell, I'm beginning to go from very depressed, to very, very depressed again. And this is a holiday weekend! Can't have that.
Is that the polite way of saying "narcissitic sociopath
Hmmm... I thought I was being polite... after all, I didn't say evil, selfish, grandiose fucking jackass did I? :-)
nice poem... for me the incident brings to mind the old saw of the wheels of justice grinding exceedingly slow, but exceedingly fine... Even if Kenny Boy was pardoned he will live out the rest of his days as a pariah (sort of like OJ or Nixon) and that in itself is going to hurt...

Dena: Thanks for being a gentle reminder of my misspelling of "narcissitic"...very kind! (grin)
I hope there is some justice served by these "worms" as I just heard them called by CNN's Jack Cafferty.
But if I knock off a 7-11 for a case of beer, am tried and found guilty, can I remain free on bail, pending my appeal? If I didn't suspect better, I'd almost say there's at least two justice systems at work here.
And yes, you were very polite calling Lay "a narcissistic sociopath"
No one can ever accuse you of going off the deep end and calling 'im an evil, selfish, grandiose fucking jackass. And for that, I appreciate your civility here.
oh, as a calif resident during that whole enron-greed-spree, I've been enjoying all your characterizations of kenny boy. As we watched our utility bills rising exponentially each month, we were told it was due to not building new refineries. Well, no new refineries had been built for 12-yrs & yet utility prices had remained relatively stable until Bush got a hard-on for Calif having supported Gore. Such an extreme hard-on, it could only be satiated by financing Darryl Issa's recalling Gray Davis for negotiating a power deal that mitigated the immediate enron gouging effect and replacing him with their favorite austrian bun-grabber, a plot hatched during cheney's secret energy council, I'm sure. Souless, manipulating, evil pricks, all those "smartest guys in the room" screwing Grandma Millie and LAUGHING all the way to ... bubba's jail cell, I hope! -- D.K.
Well, I'm nothing if not civil!
-- BTW -- I got a "D" in spelling in grade 2, and have been scared for life by it... I need spell check - there was no gentle reminder -- I was just cutting and pasting... (grin)
