Sometimes a snail's pace is way too fast for Congress!

Okay, so last week was billed as a really bad week for Bush by the media: Miers withdrew her nomination, the Libby indictment, and last but not least, U.S. military deaths surpassed 2,000.

Over the weekend I "mildly" scolded opposition party's Senate Minority leader, Harry Reid, for saying Bush and Cheney should apologize as a result of Scooter Libby's obstruction of justice and perjury charges handed down by Justice Department Special Counsel, Patrick Fitzgerald. (See Cuttin' and Pastin' where I was "mildly" upset, thinking something a little more drastic than a public apology is in order for Bush and Cheney.)

So the new week began with typical Bush deflections from the "bad news" issues. Monday came his new nomination to the Supreme Court. Yesterday, in an effort to appear prepared next time a disaster strikes, Bush "laid an egg" with his bird flu plans by using the word "pandemic" 76 times according to Keith Olbermann on MSNBC's "Countdown" last evening. (Is your fear growing? And if so, do you think Bush will save you?)

But Senator Reid closed the doors to the Senate yesterday in a surprise move that incensed majority leader, Sen. Bill Frist. Frist and his fellow Republicans, caught off guard by this, angrily retorted it was but a cheap "stunt" and a slap in his, Frist's, face.

Dada thinks Frist misinterpreted his "slap in the face." It looked more like a swift kick in the ass from here.

Well, maybe it will get the Republicans off their freakin' duffs about investigating why over 2,000 U.S. GI's died for bogus intelligence the CIA warned Bush NOT to use but did. To execute a report they promised Americans 16 mos. ago or more. A report they still haven't seriously begun.

I feel deeply for anyone having lost someone in Iraq for the lies of these bastards.

We knew this phase two report would never see the light of day BEFORE the 2004 elections. I never expected it might not see the light of day BEFORE the 2006 elections! That's what's known as a classic stonewall.

It's strange for me to understand that while the Right wing, which claims to be this sanctimonious pack of supra-patriotic Americans, doesn't seem to give a shit you may have lost a loved one for a lie. No, rather than pursuing the truth, they're more inclined to run from it.

But before we get all giddy over the sudden appearance of some Democrats with juevos in the Senate Tuesday, we would do well to remember something Washington Post Op-ed columnist E. J. Dionne Jr. tried to remind us of in his column yesterday.

In spite of all our excitement at the Libby indictment, the hornet's nest stirring in the Senate yesterday and the anticipation of things to come today and hereafter, Dionne asks, "Has anyone noticed the cover-up worked?"

Good question. And the one's who worked it on us will likely never be brought to justice.

I am still stunned with Reid and Rule 21- and glad that he did it- now we will see if the repugs do indeed produce anything on the 14th..doubt it...and yeah, we are susposed to focus on Chiken Little Flu- give me a break.....And there are 2027 famlies that deserve answers...NOW...stop by http://watergatesummer.blogspot/, when you have the time...

Thanks bb5. Good to "see" you. Oh, and BTW, thanks for the occasional e-mails of current affairs.

For anyone else reading this, bushbasher5 and I are veterans of a particular online "politics" chat room that was populated by folks too poor for Bush's taxcuts, too white for Bush's torture camps but we had fun.

It was like walkin' into one of those biker bars, jumping up on the bar and shouting, "Bikers suck!", i.e., it helped us hone our skill at dodging bullets.
