Bush misspeaks

Under a lot of pressure recently with his failed Harriet Miers nomination, the indictment of "Scooter" Libby for lying and obstructing justice, the continuing deterioration in Iraq, increasing US military deaths, Scott McClellan losing control of his daily briefings to an ever more contentious press corps, president Bush assuring Panamanians "We do not torture!" as the American public scratches their collective heads remembering the photos proving we do, our vice president urging a torture exemption for the CIA in Sen. McCain's anti-torture bill and the administration's sinking approval ratings (whew!), it appears Bush has gone on the offensive this Veteran's Day.

"Some Democrats and antiwar critics are now claiming we manipulated the intelligence and misled the American people about why we went to war," Bush said in a speech before military members and veterans in Philadelphia today. Citing the large number of Democrats who voted for his war based on the intelligence, the president accused them of now "rewriting history".

Maybe those representatives who voted for your war, Mr. President, naively trusted your intelligence. Now that they know your reasons were faked, phony and false, maybe, rather than "rewriting history" for our reasons for going to war, you misspoke. Maybe you should have said they are trying to "uncover history" as to why you led us into your war instead.

rk: It's just gets scarier and scarier doesn't it? We know how dangerous a cornered feral beast can be.

I'm still laughing about the phrase "Bush's intelligence". That's an oxyMORON.
