If those in charge of our society - politicians, corporate executives, and owners of press and television - can dominate our ideas, they will be secure in their power. They will not need soldiers patrolling the streets. We will control ourselves. Howard Zinn, historian and author
You know, you've got to wonder if Howard Zinn isn't 'right-on' here. All one need do is look at the reaction of the Right to the mother who lost her son in Iraq. She's holding a vigil near the president's vacation ranch with the hope he would just talk to her. Whether or not he does isn't the point of this.
The point is, the reaction by the pro-war faction that is lashing out at Cindy Sheehan is a shrinking minority of Americans, yet Sheehan is treated like the aberration! The interview I heard on CNN or MSNBC this morning went something like this.
Female interviewer: "What do you think of Cindy Sheehan's anti-war extremism?"
Interviewee: "Well, I don't think Cindy Sheehan's an extremist at all."
Female interviewer: "But, she IS anti-war, isn't she?"
Oh my God! Can you believe that shit? I saw/heard it with my own eyes/ears this morning!
With press and television coverage like this, it's easy to see why Howard Zinn feels pessimistic about the American "consumer", that is, they consume far too much of that kind of media bullshit. Remember: Polls indicate a large majority of Americans disapprove of the war! Reminder: All of the reasons for this war have been proven lies!
Okay, so the pro-war zealots, a minority, still clinging to the Bush lies to justify killing more Americans and Iraqis, have the gall to call Cindy Sheehan a crackpot, media whore, traitor, and/or a communist simply because she questions Bush's lies that claimed her son?
Tsk, tsk. If anything, I'd say such accusations are the claims of the real traitors of this nation. But I fear Zinn may be right. There may be no need of martial law. The law's being marshalled by the media which has no interest in serving up truth. No, unfortunately, their interests lie in serving their corporate and political master's interests who support this war. The media are their pimps, and those who support those lies and hurl cheap indignations as a result, their whores.

Norah O'Donnell was substitutiing for Chris Matthews and she asked that question about Cindy Sheehan being being an anti-war extremist.
Extremist bias on the part of O'Donnell!
I think before these on air "journalists" go before the cameras they attend a briefing, much like police. They are reminded what to be on the lookout for, given specific talking points.
Their journalism ain't shit. They're propaganda purveyors of their corporate slave masters. It's these "mothers" that have given us the world we now "enjoy."
They're the ones responsible for installing George Bush, propagating his lies and selling us his stinkin' war. God how I miss News World International. In it's place we have Al Gore's *fairy-dust* news for kids under 35.
